Texas welcomes it’s first JW Marriott golf resort

Against the grain of the tough economy the JW Marriott company has officially opened a North San Antonio 1,002-room resort that features two of the newest PGA Tour Tournament Players Club courses designed by two of golf’s most respected architects, Pete Dye and Greg Norman.

Thanks to a closed loop water system that catches run-off water and reuses it for the courses the 600-acre JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa will be “the most ecologically friendly courses built in the United States,” PGA Tour Commissioner Timp Finchem said.

The two courses, AT&T Canyons Course and the AT&T Oaks Course are being built with the infrastructure to host future PGA tournaments and will only be open to JW Marriott hotel guests and club members.

Texas maintenance man finds legendary chupacabra on 14th hole

85 miles northwest of Dallas, Texas in a town called Runaway Bay Tony Potter, a golf course maintenance man came across an unusual find during his work shift.

The maintenance man found a dead, hairless chupacabra on the 14th hole of the Runaway Bay Golf Course.

The legendary creatures was classified with having small pointed ears, a sharp snout, and curved canine teeth.

Potter told the newspaper “This is not a coyote,” and “This is not a dog.”. He says it looks like it is in the canine family but he really can’t be sure.

The animal was brought to the attention of a Bridgeport, TX veterinarian but wasn’t able to identify the species but determined the creature was a juvenile male.

The chupacabra which is best known for sucking the blood out of livestock have had increasing sightings over the last 15 or 20 years in Texas and Mexico and have continued to cause havoc.

The site of the Byron Nelson golf tournament might bite the dust

The Four Seasons Resort and Golf Club in which was set to host the annual Byron Nelson Championship golf tournament is facing foreclosure.

U.S. Bank has slated an auction of the 400+ room hotel and spa for February 2nd where the bank is seeking a $183 million payment with Los Angeles-based BentleyForbes.

Four Seasons general manager, Michael Newcombe commented that the posting of the auction will not affect the property’s daily operations and the owner has been talking with lenders on ways to restructure the debts.
