Spike TV will be driving a golf-themed pilot featuring a sex-addicted caddy named "Tiger."

The cable television channel for men, Spike TV will be driving a golf-themed pilot featuring a sex-addicted caddy named “Tiger.”

The new series titled “Back Nine” written by Jason Filardi (”17 Again”) and Mark Perez (”Accepted”) stars “The Dukes of Hazzard” cast member John Schneider as Ronnie Barnes with negotiations in action for Miguel Nunez to play the part of Tiger.

Barnes is a hard-drinking, larger-than-life, washed-up former U.S. Open champion that travels the country competing in tournaments with his caddy Tiger, in order to qualify again for the PGA Tour.

The similarities to Tiger Woods and the caddy named Tiger are simply a coincidence. Spike TV has been working on the “Back Nine” script on for almost a year before Woods’ November car crash.

Seton Hall University eliminates its track and field for woman's golf

Seton Hall University will be adding woman’s golf to its athletic program roster as soon as next season.

Since picking up the new addition Seton Hall had to eliminate men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Previously the university put up more than $1 million per year to support four track programs and will now reallocate a portion of that funding to remaining athletic programs.

The addition of women’s golf will keep the South Orange, N.J. university in line with NCAA and Title IX requirements and will remain a member of the Big East Conference.

Athletics director Joseph Quinlan said in a statement Thursday,“This was a difficult choice to make, given the history of our track and field programs, but it was a necessary one made in the best interests of Seton Hall Athletics on the whole,” and “It is not viable for us to continue to support the number of sports we do at the current level. With this decision, we will reallocate resources to strengthen the university’s ongoing sports programs.”

The Chinese central government says by 2020 Hainan will be a "top international tourism destination"

It seems a little out of the ordinary that golf is expanding in a country where literally 0% of the population plays, China. And up until the mid-1980s golf was banned by the Chinese communists for being “too bourgeois.”

To this day the construction of new courses is still technically illegal there is a local saying that everything is possible.

Even though China’s moratorium on golf course construction some expect hundreds to thousands of courses are expected to open over the next several years.

The heart of China’s golf boom is the tropical island province of Hainan where not long ago was a lawless place with an economy built largely on smuggling, prostitution, and unchecked property speculation.

Now the giant city of Beijing is determined to transform Hainan into a tourist paradise, with golf expected to play a very important role. Some people are even joking that Hainan is now a “special golf development zone” where mainland restrictions don’t apply.

Somewhere between 100 and 300 courses are expected to be built but the most secret and mysterious project from Hong Kong’s Mission Hills Group will be the world’s largest golf resort with 22 courses covering an area nearly 1.5 times the size of Manhattan.

The Mission Hills development is in fact so secretive it had to be given a code name and is known as Project 791.

The Chinese central government says by 2020 Hainan will be a “top international tourism destination” but the prospect of another decade of furious growth has some islanders concerned for its already fragile ecology and centuries-old ways of rural life.

A crocodile nicknamed Steve now calls Willows Golf Resort home.

Willows Golf Resort in Sydney has recently been credited for having the world’s most dangerous water hazard.

For more than a week a six foot fresh water crocodile nicknamed Steve, has been lurking at the golf resort attracting near-daily sightings with an odd lack of panic.

Golf course manager Adrian Lawson said, “It’s not scaring anyone — it’s part of the course in North Queensland,” and shrugged. “North Queenslanders are used to seeing this kind of thing.”

Steve the crocodile is known around the course to me more laid-back than other saltwater crocs and can be seen swimming or enjoying the Australian sun near the par-five second or par-three 17th, which tees off over his lake.

“It doesn’t put anyone off unless they put their ball in that lake — they’re not going to retrieve it, that’s for sure,” Lawson told AFP on Monday.

“We’ve seen him sunning himself on the bank on the second (hole), but whenever anyone has come near him he’s straight back in the drink, as quick as a wink.”

In recent years the Townsville course has been home to about five crocodiles after heavy rains swell a nearby river resulting in wild reptiles getting relocated to the golf course.
The happenings are so common for the golf course they even have their own crocodile management plan. The staff always check with local authorities to make sure the animals don’t pose any serious threat.

Lawson said, “It’s not going to eat anyone or chase a dog down the main street, but it’s an interesting find.”

This weekend golf fans can enjoy some fresh air and watch golfers such as Lee Trevino, Craig Stadler and Mark O’Meara play in the three-round Allianz Championship presented by The PGA Champions Tour which is for golf professionals more than 50 years old.

The complimentary event will be held on the Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton, Florida and begins Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Tournament director, Ryan Dillon said “It’s a great event,” and “It helps the community out on their wallets a little bit.”

According to Dillon the decision to make the event free wasn’t because of the slumping economy or concern of selling tickets but in fact a free event may attract more people, meaning more people will see the sponsors’ messages.

“The charity’s making the same amount of money,” said Dillon. “We didn’t lose money on this deal. In fact, we’re probably going to make more this year than we would have just selling tickets.”

The developer Incredible Technologies took the game’s tournaments to a whole new level with Golden Tee Live by incorporating coordinated leaderboards and available prizes.

Now Golden Tee Golf ups the ante by integrating Facebook Connect and Youtube upload options.
Donald Trump gets sued by Greek shipping heir Harry Theodoracopulos

Donald Trump will be facing a legal battle against Greek shipping heir Harry Theodoracopulos over allegations of bad behavior.

Harry Theodoracopulos has had his membership suspended from Trump’s, Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida since April of last year and is just now decided to take action against Trump by filing a lawsuit.

Theodoracopulos who paid 125,000 pounds for his membership allegedly had upset staff and fellow members.

Theodoracopulos was notified by Trump in a letter that stated, “You have been abusing numerous caddies, other members and representatives of the club in general,” and “intolerable behavior toward guests and members on the driving range.

The lawsuit comes after Theodoracopulos believes that he did not have an opportunity to defend himself to the club’s board, so will now be taking legal action.

Golf course vandals receive their punishment one year after their destruction spree.

Two Tazewell County men have been sentenced to jail time Monday and ordered to pay $70,000 in restitution to the course owner for the Feb. 8, 2009, crime at the
Wolf Creek Golf and Country Club in Nevada.

“They tore it completely up,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Clinton Kegley in summarizing the case against 20-year-old James B. Dye and 19-year-old John Douglas Smith during a Bland County Circuit Court sentencing hearing.

According to the course owner and the local police Dye, and Smith along with accomplice Charles W. Hagy Jr. used golf carts to tear up greens and fairways. They men had been drinking and fishing in the area and left two golf carts partially submerged in ponds and damaged two others.

Dye’s attorney, Rob Campbell, argued that a jail sentence wouldn’t be the best punishment for his client and said “What you’ve got here is a young man that was making poor decisions.” Campbell told the judge that Dye would be willing to enter a Christian-based rehab program where he would work and send in all the money to repay his debt.

“I just want to say I’m sorry,” said Dye who was ordered to serve 30 days in jail and will have to serve seven years of probation. Dye’s partner in crime who unlike Dye has no prior criminal history was convicted of felony destruction of property and was sentenced to four days in jail and will be on probation for five years after his release. Hagy will be sentenced on March 22.
